Android KitKat 4.4.3: Samsung Galaxy S5 Listing Appears on US Carrier Website; Update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10

Google's Android in KitKat

The Android 4.4.3 KitKat update has allegedly appeared on the website of a U.S. carrier, according to a report this week.

The next Android KitKat update will come for the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S5. A few other smartphones will be affected by the update.

There’s been a bevy of rumors about the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update in recent weeks with one saying the update would have came last Friday. However, that never came to fruition.

U.S. Cellular, the fifth-largest carrier in the United States, posted a listing for the Samsung Galaxy S5, which says “Android Version 4.4.3” will come with it. The base band version is “G900R4VXU1ANCF.”

Gotta Be Mobile posted a screenshot of the download page first.

“The Android 4.4.3 reference has been up on the carrier’s website for at least a few days now. Google’s cache only goes back to May 25th so we can’t say when it first appeared,” the website says.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 listing is the only smartphone on the US. Cellular webpage with 4.4.3 listed.

The Google Input/Output (I/O) 2014 will take place from June 25 to June 26, so there’s a possibility that Google will make an announcement about Android 4.4.3 there, but it’s unclear. Google has not confirmed the existence of the OS update.

A report says that Android 4.4.3 KitKat will fix the Nexus 4 and Galaxy S5 camera error. An “insider” told Inferse that the OS update will only fix known bug issues, and no new features would be added.

Android 4.4.3 Kitkat update still unconfirmed, but 4.5 Lollipop launch nears

To the dismay of many Google fans, Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update roll out is still unclear despite the imminent release of the next generation Android OS – 4.5 Lollipop.

Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update has not received a release date confirmation from the search engine giant. It was initially speculated that the OS update will roll out on Nexus and Google Play Edition devices followed by HTC One M7 and M8 and Sony and Samsung devices.

April and May alleged release dates have past as well as the purported May 23 roll out have been delayed due to some unspecified issues found, according to Android Geeks. There are whispers that Google may not release the rumored update and just jump in launching the 4.5 Lollipop OS.

The Android 4.4.3 roll out was delayed indefinitely and some reports claimed that the update will arrive sometime next month. It was reported that Android 4.4.3 version of Kitkat OS will bring different bug fixes to issues and problems brought about by the previous OS upgrade.

Allegedly, Android 4.4.3 will tow three dozens of bug fixes to further stabilize the Kitkat OS, while leading the way to the release of its successor. Some of the expected solutions that the update will bring are: unstable data connections fix, improved camera focus, random reboot issues solution, missed call LED fix, Wi-Fi auto-connect fix, VPN fix, USB debugging security fix among others.

Samsung-centric website SamMobile reported that the Android 4.4.3 with a build number”KTU70″ is currently being tested to the Snapdragon and Exynos variants of Samsung Galaxy S5 as well as to the LTE-A version of Samsung Galaxy S4.

The report added that Samsung is integrating the company’s own user interface in the Android OS. Thus, the Samsung-customized update will roll out in July or later. This just falls into schedule if Google will announce the 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update to Nexus and Google Play Edition devices either this month or in June.

iPhone 6 2014 Release Date Update – Enhanced Beats Music, Sapphire-Wrapped Casing Confirmed as Fresh Killer Features

Among the rumoured killer features of the iPhone 6 on its release date this 2014, a premium music streaming service and a scratch-free housing for the device have emerged this week with near confirmation.

That Apple plans a different flavour of music offering for its OS X and iOS devices soon is revealed by its admission of acquiring Beats Electronics and Beats Music to the tune of $3 billion, described by market watchers as the priciest acquisition move that originated ever from Cupertino, California.

According to Apple Insider, Apple CEO Tim Cook regards the takeover of the firm founded by hip-hop icon Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine as a head-start for the company. Beats Music, in particular, will fuel further expansion of the music-centric offerings already found on iTunes.

The service is described by Business Insider as “a subscription streaming music service that focuses on providing a personalized music experience for each user through a unique blend of digital innovation and musical passion.”

“Beats Music delivers the right music for any situation, any time, and any preference, personalized to your tastes,” added the same report in explaining the uniqueness of the new addition to the Apple product portfolio that supposedly will be the one of the highlights of upcoming iPhone 6 features.

“We get a subscription music service that we believe is the first subscription service that really got it right,” the Apple chief executive was reported by Apple Insider as saying in a press statement.

Although the iPhone maker has clearly indicated that Beats Music will remain an independent entity within Apple, its integration with the company’s tightly-organised ecosystem will eventually lead to the service bumping off iTunes Radio, according to Apple observers.

As pointed out by Apple Insider, iTunes Radio remains a laggard compared to the likes of Spotify and Pandora so the music streaming service eventually making way for Beats Music on iPhones, iPads, iPods and Mac computers will not come as a surprise at all.

And as Dr Dre and Iovine are lined up to become Apple employees soon, sapphire increasingly appears as a crucial part of the next iPhone roll out.

In a report, CNET said that known Apple sapphire partner, GT Advanced Technologies has ramped up its production capacity by five times in April coming from March 2014, signalling that sapphire is well en route to end up in one or two Apple devices.

Analysts have long been touting that Apple will upgrade its sapphire use first seen in the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S by likely wrapping two gadgets – the iPhone 6 or the rumoured iWatch or both – with the material and make them resistant from nicks and scruffs.

“GT had a very successful month of April at its Arizona sapphire fab and estimate it shipped about 1 million two-inch equivalents of sapphire to one of Apple’s cover screen suppliers,” CNET quoted a new research note that UBS Securities has issued.

The tech site also reiterated the earlier assumptions that with sapphire on iPhone 6, a 5.5-inch version of the device is virtually confirmed. It is suggested too that the first Apple phablet will be launched as the iPhone Air.

Release date of the iPhone Air is not expected until December this year while the regular-size iPhone 6, or the 4.7-inch edition, is said to come out as early as Sept 19 2014.
